Dry skin hints and tips

I wanted to give you's all a few simple tips for dry skin as I know it can be a pain. I have very dry skin myself and suffer from psoriasis and its developed badly on my face a lot more than usual which is a nightmare because it can get in the way of my makeup routine. Most people will get dry skin in the winter because of the weather so I thought I'd share a few tips with you!

First of all skin experts recommend getting a warm bath/shower instead of it being hot as this can strip all of the natural oils from the skin and can remain dry and itchy. They also recommend not to bathe for longer than 5-10 minutes. When you dry yourself you should pat dry gently followed by a moisturiser.

You should always cleanse your face gently with a light soap and fragrance free cleanser. You shouldn't exfoliate the skin to hard also as this can irritate the skin.

Shaving smartly can also help dry skin. If you are shaving dry skin, it can scrape off your natural oils and irritate the skin more so you should always shave after a shower/bath when the skin is softer with a sharp razor and making sure you always use a shaving gel or cream.

Using a rich moisturiser will restore your natural oils and help replenish the skin barriers. A rich moisture with Shea butter in it would be highly recommended.

Simple things such as drinking enough water a day can also increase the moisture in the skin. Foods also rich in protein and high in sulphur such as garlic, onions and eggs can also help moisturise the skin.To help soothe the itch from dry skin baby oil or coconut oil can also help!

You should avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine all the time as well because this causes loss of fluids l, so leave them for special occasions!

Home remedy
One of my home remedy favourites is honey. It smooths out the skins wrinkles and leaves the skin remaining soft and silky. Just simply add a little bit of orange juice to honey and spread into the skin evenly and leave this for 10 minutes after that make sure you was it off fully.

There's just a few tips and simple hints that you's may want to try as I know dry skin can be a pain!  Thank you for reading and hope it helped, you can follow me on bloglovin to keep regularly updated!
