Stepping out of that comfort zone!

A comfort zone. What actually is a comfort zone? Are some people's comfort zones bigger than ours? Well of course they are. I know Beyonce's comfort zone is a lot larger than mine, I certainly wouldn't get up and sing on a stage full of thousands of people, I couldn't even see myself going on karaoke. Why? Well I'm not a good singer but Beyoncé is, but that doesn't mean her comfort zone is not bigger than mine.

So what is a comfort zone? This is an area were you are comfortable in and something that you are used to. This could mean eating the same meals and your daily routine. It's a situation when someone feels them self at ease. It's natural for everyone to have a zone were they are most comfortable in and things they aren't comfortable with.

By no means am I saying a comfort zone is bad. It's actually healthy to have a comfort zone and you shouldn't step out of it all of the time. Your mind needs rest and a place to feel secure. A comfort zone provides a mental state of security with regular happiness, lower anxiety and it's seemed to be less stressful. Your comfort zone provides you with a routine, security, love and comfort. What is so bad about that? However what does it provide when you step out of your comfort zone? Well a little stress, I know that. You can feel nervous and scared however if you step out of your comfort zone you are reaching them achievements that you can't reach inside your comfort zone. You embrace changes and achieve your goals. You get to try out new things, meet new people, push the limits and aim higher. The list is endless of the positive things stepping outside of your comfort zone can change. Not to mention you feel so much more confident and motivated when you step out!
Why should I step out of my comfort zone?
- Makes you more productive
- Easier adaptation to change and unexpected changes
- Easier to push the boundaries in the future
- Harnesses your creativity
- Easier to brainstorm
- Increases knowledge and activity
- Brings you confidence on a plate
- Learn more

'If all is to be true and I do achieve more outside my comfort zone, then why don't I?'
This is a tricky question. However it is scientifically proved, it's hard for everyone to step out of their comfort zone, no matter of the person. Their capacity of their comfort zone may be bigger, but doing something they haven't done before is still as hard as someone who's more vulnerable to them doing something new. Some people don't like fear so in this case they fear the fear that could appear if they do take a step out.

In my opinion, you can't get far in life without stepping out of your comfort zone. The greatest lessons in life are always learnt by taking risks. Think about it, have you ever achieved something in your comfort zone? I know I haven't, I mean sitting in bed, eating junk food is great once in a while but it's not getting you far in life, I can ensure you that now. Think back to when you got your first jo or the job your in now. How did you get that job? Did you have to step out of your comfort zone? Oh course you did. Think of exams you've passed or taken, did you revise for it every night thinking you were never going to pass, going into the room nervously? Yes.

Sometimes you need the nerves to make you achieve better in life. If you wasn't bothered then you wouldn't have got far and achieved much! You just can't let your nerves get the better of you. It's natural to feel nervous before participating in any of these kind of things and that's what brings out the best in you and makes you achieve these things.

So now your asking, how?
- Do everyday things differently, even if this is just going a different route to work or eating something different. It can change the perspective on how you think.
- Take your time making decisions and interperate what you see and evaluate what the outcomes could be.
- Trust yourself! One of the most important things is to always believe in yourself or you won't succeed.
- Take small steps
- Just think, what's the worst that could happen?

Now that you've read this post, I hope that it inspires you to go forward and do more in life. Just take chances, go for it and grow your comfort zone! Learn to say YES more, and you will experience a lot more in life and become a bigger, better and stronger person than you are today!

  6. For me, when I started this blog was stepping out of my comfort zone. I was not a great(or even good) writer back in school. I hated it. Now you see where I'm at. Even this with trying to talk with more bloggers has been getting out of my comfort zone. It's been fun getting to meet new bloggers(like yourself) and learning about their passions and stuff.
